What is PHA?

Founded in 1995, the Pacific Health Association (PHA) is made up of the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (CHA), Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (OAHHS) and Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA).

PHA is a nonprofit organization formed to provide information, support and representation to current members of the three state associations and future members. As most health care systems and other health care organizations now operate in multiple states, PHA provides a vehicle for the three state associations to collaborate and provide better service to their members on a multi-state basis.

Together, the three state associations that make up PHA represent nearly 700 hospitals and health systems. CHA has 500 members, OAHHS represents 63 members and WSHA has 94 members. The membership base of the three state associations includes almost 95 percent of the hospitals and health systems within California, Oregon and Washington.

A newsletter and computerized applications will form PHA's internal and external communications network.

One of the goals of PHA is promote an optimally healthy society. PHA is taking steps toward accomplishing this goal by preparing to collect, analyze and distribute information on health plans/insurers and providers to decision makers such as consumers, buyers and providers.

Education on cutting edge topics and networking opportunities are provided to members through strategic forums.
